What is Vector

What is vector? Vector art is the use of geometrical primitives such as points, lines, curves, and shapes or polygon(s), which are all based on mathematical equations, to represent images in computer graphics. Vector art can be scaled to any size and retain its sharpness and detail at no loss in quality. Vectors are most commonly done in programs such as Adobe Illustrator, Macromedia Freehand and CorelDRAW.

What is Adobe Illustrator? Adobe Illustrator is a vector drawing program. It is often used to draw illustrations, cartoons, diagrams, charts and logos. Unlike bitmap images that stores information in a grid of dots, Illustrator uses mathematical equations to draw out the shapes. This makes vector graphics scalable without the loss of resolution.
